How do I change the battery in a Sage button?

Follow the steps below when changing a Sage button's battery. 

The instructions below are for the current version of the Sage button. Some communities who received their Sage installation prior to April 2024 may have a different version of Sage buttons installed that use a different version of coin batteries. Please partner with Sage Support before purchasing replacement batteries for your community if you have any questions.

 

Instructions:

Wall Button requires a new battery replacement:

  • Remove the button from the wall’s HELP decal sticker  
  • Gather your button battery tool and coin battery-LIR2430
  • Identify the two notches on the button 
  • Insert the battery tool opener in notches
  • Turn battery tool opener counterclockwise, with front of button facing down, to open the button
  • Once the button is open, remove the old battery.
  • Insert the new battery into the button, making sure the positive terminal is facing out 
  • Place the button's bottom plate and insert the battery tool opener into the notch and turn clockwise, with the front of the button facing down, to close the button. 
  • Test button to verify functionality: Red or green light will flash on button to confirm it is functional - resolve as “Test Alert”. 
  • Place the wall button properly onto the wall HELP decal in the assigned unit.

Resident Pendant requires a new battery replacement:

  • Remove resident pendant from its lanyard or waistband 
  • Gather your button battery tool and coin battery-LIR2430
  • Identify the two notches on the button 
  • Insert the battery tool opener in notches
  • Turn battery tool opener counterclockwise, with front of button facing down, to open the button
  • Once the button is open, remove the old battery.
  • Insert the new battery into the button, making sure the positive terminal is facing out 
  • Place the button's bottom plate and insert the battery tool opener into the notch and turn clockwise, with the front of the button facing down, to close the button. 
  • Test button to verify functionality: Red or green light will flash on button to confirm it is functional - resolve as “Test Alert”. 
  • Place the button properly onto the purple holder with a lanyard or waistband assigned to the resident.
